"Over The River, Project for the Arkansas River, State of Colorado"
The internationally renowned artists will suspend horizontally 5.9 miles of silvery, luminous fabric panels high above the water of the Arkansas River at eight aesthetically selected areas along a 40-mile stretch between Salida and Cañon City. The artists have loaned two “Over The River, Project for the Arkansas River, State of Colorado,” preparatory works of art created by Christo to Corporate Collections ‘08. As with all of their previous works of art, the Colorado project is financed entirely by Christo and Jeanne-Claude through the sale of Christo’s original works. The artists do not accept donations or sponsorships of any kind.
