September 14, 2011 Governor Appoints New Council Members

DENVER (September 14, 2011), On August 26, Governor Hickenlooper announced the appointment of five new members to the Colorado Council on Creative Industries (formerly the Colorado Council on the Arts.) In addition, Robert B. Clasen, current Council member and former CEO of Starz, replaced Chris Castilian as chair of the Council. Castilian was term-limited, having served for both Governor Owens and Governor Ritter. Governor Hickenlooper also reappointed Kim Harrell of Aurora to a second three-year term.
The new Council members are:
David Boger, Denver – co-founder and general manager of Jiberish Clothing
Claire Garcia – professor at Colorado College and wife of Lt. Governor Joe Garcia
Robert Hammond – Commissioner of Education
Allison Sarmo – former director of the Grand Junction Arts Commission
Kyle Zeppelin – co-owner of Zeppelin Development of Denver
The mission of the Colorado Creative Industries, a division of the state Office of Economic Development and International Trade, is to promote, support and expand the creative industries to drive Colorado’s economy, grow jobs and enhance our quality of life. The eleven-member Council meets quarterly to discuss policy issues and set overall priorities for the Council, including reviewing program direction and budgets, and approving advisory panel recommendations for awarding grants, incentives and contracts.
