Adams State CollegePlachy Hall Renovation and AdditionFortune Favors the Bold Andy Dufford; Denver, Colorado Budget: $64,000 Installed August 2009 Andrew Dufford’s piece is placed on the exterior of Plachy Hall and provides a strong sense of arrival and entry to the building. It includes a seating area and a trophy stone with a medallion. The Trophy Stone is visible from all access walks and the seating is sandstone boulders are sculptured to provide seating with a comfortable backrest. The area provides an intimate and casual space for smaller groups of students and visitors. The medallion is reminiscent of the medals awarded to athletes at Adams State for outstanding performance and is cast in bronze. The cast images are tailored to the history and culture of the College. The sculpture which holds the stone is made out of native buff colored sandstone and has a 12” wide channel that is etched with a series of glyphs representing the sports of the College. . |
