Domiciliary Renovation Homelake State Veterans Center

Untitled

Budget of $13,500
To be installed summer 2010
This sculpture for the Colorado State Veterans Center at Homelake is about the Veterans life. It will be a 20’ circle, made out of rhyolite with slight openings between sections from 1 ½” to a size large enough to accommodate wheelchairs that provide entry into the inside ring of crusher fine walking surface.  Embedded in the rhyolite are large irregular light-blue glass block “windows” and weathered military ammunition boxes are mortared among the stone. The six sections represent: Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard and Family. The circle wall represents a humans’ life cycle. The stone is the caregiver’s solid commitment and service. The windows are a view into someone’s life; a time the story is told that becomes an experience.
