Overview

Engaging high school students through the art of poetry

A partnership of the NEA, the Poetry Foundation, and the state arts agencies, Poetry Out Loud is a national arts education program that encourages high school students to learn about great poetry through memorization and performance. Colorado is proud to partner with Lighthouse Writers Workshop to administer Poetry Out Loud.

Deadline

Program Registration for 2020-21 Poetry Out Loud is officially open until January 15, 2021. To register or get involved, visit Lighthouse Writers Workshop. 

The NEA has announced that the 2021 National Poetry Out Loud Finals will be held virtually in April (dates TBD) as a video submission-based competition and strongly encourages contest organizers at all levels to hold virtual events in order to ensure the safety and well-being of students, parents, teachers, and everyone involved with POL.

In accordance with that direction, Colorado’s 2021 Poetry Out Loud State Finals will also be held virtually in March (dates TBD) as a video submission-based competition.
